Rules, controls and help for Golf Solitaire

Choose a round of Golf Solitaire and settle into its rules. Remove all 35 tableau cards. Look at what changes after your first action. Compare the starting position with the example in the Guide. Use the example below to understand a decision.

Seven columns of five, one stock pass. Free solo play, no wagering.

A small practice goal

Before your first action, say what you are trying to achieve. Then compare the result with the goal. Notice the feedback after each input.

Understand the aim

Remove all 35 tableau cards. The feedback beside the game helps you follow the round. Check the rules when you are unsure.

From the start of a round

  1. Take an exposed bottom card one rank above or below the waste top, allowing ace–king wrapping.
  2. Click an exposed card or eligible pair to remove it.
  3. Draw when useful.
  4. Undo reverses a choice. New deal shuffles again.

Getting comfortable with the controls

Click or tap cards and piles. Wide tableaus scroll inside the game; use Undo, Hint and New deal where shown. Read a button’s label before selecting it. Look at the feedback after the action.

A useful example

Waste queen accepts jack or king. Compare this with the rule that governs the move. Look for the relevant detail.

An important reminder

Random deals are not guaranteed solvable. A hint is a legal move, not a winning strategy. A different version of the game may use a different rule. Locate the buttons and input area before beginning a long round. Use the on-screen labels to avoid an accidental restart.
